FAQs

Thanks for getting in touch!

Q: Can you redecorate a pub on a tight budget?

A: That is exactly why I started this practice. By focusing on finding creative, inexpensive ways to update or change an atmosphere, you can achieve a whole new feel. We can re-invent your premises without requiring a huge investment.

Q: Do you work with new places that haven't opened yet or just existing ones?

A: I work with both. I assist established independent spots—like a restaurant or a guest house looking for a complete layout re-vamp—as well as new venues that are setting up shop for the very first time.

Q: Besides the interior design side of things what do you mean by "connection opportunities"?

A: My background is in theatre and cultural programming. Alongside styling your space, where required I can help develop and launch events, activities, and community partnerships to establish a steady base of regulars.

Q: Is there a cheap option if I just want to freshen things up?

A: If you want a quick facelift, we can focus on high-impact visual changes. While my professional fee remains reasonably fixed to reflect my experience, utilising colour, clever lighting and styling tweaks can be a cost-effective way to refresh an environment without it looking cheap.

Q: Can you help with a private house, or do you only work with commercial spaces?

A: While my main focus is helping independent businesses thrive, if you are looking to update your home, or want to give it a different vibe I am delighted to take on private projects.

Q: What locations do you cover in the UK?

A: I am based in the South West of England and am looking to collaborate with independent businesses primarily in Exeter and across Devon, but I am happy to travel further afield for projects across the UK. I also have a base in the South West of France.

Q: What techniques can you use to create spaces that people remember?

A: Two approaches that are great for creating memorable spaces are scenography and storytelling. Scenography is about designing a space as an experience: considering how people move through it, where their attention is drawn, how light, materials and textures work together, and the details that leave a lasting impression.

Storytelling, meanwhile, gives your venue a clear identity by creating consistency between its interior design, atmosphere and overall character. The aim is for your customers to immediately understand what makes your place unique and to want to come back. Places that tell a story are the ones people remember.

Together, these approaches help create welcoming, coherent and memorable spaces, whether it's a café, restaurant, guest house or any other independent venue.

Q: Do you only work with small businesses?

A: My main focus is on helping small and medium-sized independent businesses, including cafés, restaurants, bars, guest houses and shops. These are often the places where a strong identity can make the biggest difference. However, I'm also happy to work on larger venues when the project aligns with my approach and we share the same vision.
